thor23Thor - November 11
Breed:
Labrador Retriever

Thor is the true version of man¹s best friend. He always wants to be by our side and that includes me carrying around an umbrella outside when it's raining for him to go to the bathroom (talked about being spoiled). But Thor
has expanded our family beyond our two cats and he helps keep life interesting. We are blessed to have him in our life.

Pepper - November 11
Breed:
Heinz 57

Pepper was a rescue from the Kansas City animal shelter almost 6 years ago. He came to us at about 5 weeks old, 6 lbs and small enough to fit into a 6"x 6" box. He is the most loyal, noble and amazing animal. He brings our family joy everyday.

Banjo - October 11
Breed:

Mini Dachshund

After 13 years, I lost my dog, Zorro in August. My heart was broken. Recently, I found a  puppy who looked exactly like Zorro, only in miniature!  He has filled my heart with joy. I think he is a gift to me from Zorro. I'm so excited about all the new adventures we will go on together knowing that Zorro is watching over us with love.

Lionel - October 11
Breed: Pug

Lionel is the love of our lives. He is always up for a walk, chasing his cat brother around the yard or trying to do something worthy of a treat. He waits all week to spend the day with his best friend Buddi or his brother Cooper. A friendly little guy, he is always up for a good time and wants to be everyone's friend. We are so blessed to have him as our "first child."

romeo2

Romeo - September 11
Breed: Shitzu

Romeo came to live with our family as a foster dog. We were just helping him get back on his feet, the 3 he has left. Romeo had to have a front leg removed due to abuse he had suffered before he was taken to a local shelter. After having Romeo for a short while our family decided to adopt him. Romeo is happy and full of life. He loves to run and play and keeps up well with our other dogs. Romeo has been a great addition to our family.

Kona - August 11

Kona is a one year old 140-lb puppy who doesn't know his size (or his species). He frequently will sleep on our bed thinking that a queen bed is big enough for him, often pushing one or both of us off of the bed in the middle of the night.

Mikko - August 11

Mikko has tons of energy and could be considered the doggie version of Lance Armstrong! He loves going to the park and bike riding with his family. Also he is probably one of the only Shiba's that you will see off leash!

Piper August 11

Piper was surrendered to KC Sheltie Rescue in July, 2009. She came to my home as a my first foster, until she could be socialized for a new home. Incredibly skiddish (and not potty trained), she was the most shy dog I had ever met. I found myself eager to get her rehabilitated for her new home. Two months into fostering, Piper warmed up to me and, you guessed it... I failed as a foster parent by adopting her. Piper rules the roost at home and has become quite a Prima Donna. She now accompanies me to many of our events, and is slowly gaining confidence. My message to others is "don't give up on the shy dogs, as they make very devoted companions."

Bentley- August 11

Bentley is the sweetest, cutest, most lovable Labradoodle you'll ever know!
He loves to play tug of war and go swimming at Shawnee Mission Dog Park. He can run really fast and jump really high! But, his absolute favorite thing to do is lay in the grass under a shady tree and chew on sticks.

Blake - July 11

Blake, “Blakers" to his friends!, was rescued from death by lethal injection.  He was an impounded stray in a small community where I worked as a police officer.  His time was up!  He was too handsome for me not to save, though.  Now he's one of the family.
